How Moral Learning Works

The human brain is superior to that of any other animal. If this fact is true, then how come so many smart people do stupid things, repeatedly? Perhaps it’s because they spend to much time learning the wrong things in the first place. After all, you can act only on what you know.

There is a “manual” for using your brain. During the 2nd Century, Rabbi Judah the Prince wrote Ethics of the Fathers, or in Hebrew, Pirkei Avot. This book is a compilation of the moral teachings of about 100 different rabbis who lived in Israel and Babylonia between 2nd Century B.C.E. and 2nd Century C.E. Within its five chapters there are numerous teachings applicable to learning and teaching such as:

· The responsibilities and relationships of students and teachers

· Time—management techniques

· Applying knowledge effectively

· Leadership and mentoring

We compile relevant topics from Ethics of the Fathers as well as other important sources and translate them into simplified ideas. Then, we show you how to apply what you’ve learned to daily living. We supplement our lessons with motivational exercises and thought-provoking questions. Our goal is to have you act on your new knowledge quickly and effectively. We believe that when you practice what you learn as quickly as possible, you develop good habits, and you retain that knowledge for a lifetime.
